Synopsis

After hearing a prophecy that his elderly mother may die soon, Sakol sets out on a one-day pilgrimage to nine temples as a remedy. Just two weeks before her birthday, he brings his ailing mother, along with his wife, brother, sister, and children, on the journey through the splendour of Thai temple architecture in Samut Prakan, a coastal gateway city where tradition and modernity meet. Unfolding over a single day, the film observes a family that tries, and often fails, to fit together, bound by care, belief and habit. Drawing on the director’s own childhood temple trips, it is a gentle, wry portrait of faith, superstition and a country caught in its own cycles.
